As you might know, SIC has been selected to participate in MIT’s Global Health Delivery G-lab for the past two years. This year our MIT team (Ariel Santos, David Nelson, John Curry, and Michael Bronstein) focused on working with our team to build a detailed expansion strategy for SIC.  Specifically, the objective was to create a systematic, evidence-based approach to decide where to expand next and how to initiate services.  The project deliverables were: (1) a staged site selection process and evaluative model to identify the most attractive expansion districts, (2) a starter kit process guide to launch services, and (3) a financial model to estimate costs of site selection and initiation. The successes of this project reached far beyond our expectations.

This week Ariel Santos was selected to personally present the final product to Bill Gates during his tour to MIT.  Click here to see the caption on CNET.  Ariel reports that it was a great opportunity for SIC to gain exposure.  He relayed, “Mr. Gates was really impressed by the model and how we used relatively simple techniques to address an issue faced not only by SIC, but also by many other organizations.”
