Taking on Obstacles at the Frontier of Service Delivery

Mass Development Association of Dar es Salaam (MAdeA) helped victims of domestic violence and sexual assault through prevention, education, microloan, and training programs.

The organization operated on a very small budget and in 2008 asked GlobalHealth Lab to help find sustainable sources of revenue. After evaluating several opportunities to raise money through direct services and external stakeholders, the MIT student team assisted MAdeA in creating a fundraising strategy that included building a website, revising marketing materials, compiling a list of potential funders, devising a fundraising pitch, and running staff training sessions.
